Topic: Weep Not Text: John 11:34-45 Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning. Several years ago, Jesus Christ received a euphemistic query. When the Lord came after Lazarus had been dead for four days, Martha, the sister of Lazarus issued a query to Jesus, in John 11:21: “Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.” This was a mild accusation. It was a query to Jesus Christ for coming late. Many of us have queried God over our circumstances. My prayer, however, is that you should never query God again. He is wiser than us, according to I Corinthians 1:25: “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” Do not think that God does not know what He is doing at any point in time. He knows the end from the beginning. Whether you believe it or not, He is a good God who does no evil. When certain things happen in our lives we wonder why God allows them. If only you could focus your attention on the future you would know that God is good. The Bible says, in Psalms 30:5; that even though weeping may endure for a night, joy comes in the morning. There may be dissatisfaction today but joy is coming tomorrow. If you are wise and know that joy must follow sadness then you must refuse to weep today, no matter your situation. Rather than weep you can borrow a bit of the joy of tomorrow and start rejoicing today. This may sound foolishly but it is the counsel of God. God says we should rejoice always in Him (Philippians 4:4). We can rejoice because we have a good and faithful God upon whom we can depend. But why do we cry as if there is no brighter tomorrow? We often resort to weeping when we assume we have come to the end of the road in any troubling circumstance. But why do you weep as if God cannot repeat what He did in Bible days? Why do you shed tears as if the devil is more powerful than God? If you really believe the words of God, you will stop weeping and begin to rejoice. You will rejoice in anticipation of the fact that though weeping may endure for a night, joy comes in the morning. Memory Verse: Psalms 4:4 - “Stand in awe and sin not; commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selar.”
