Torino... the new Tuscany? Torino may not be hot on the tourist trail... but certainly should be! We had a great day cycling round some of the sights including the Turin landmark Mole Antonelliana, many beautiful churches and piazzas, a wonderful street flower show and this cafe serving Bicerin - a Torino speciality coffee with chocolate liquor. Not to miss is the Borgo Medievale in Parco del Valentino with its recreation of a 15th century village. The accompanying walled garden is divided into three sections - the pleasure gardens, garden of remedies and kitchen garden. Within only an hours drive or so are the Alps which received a fall of snow during our visit. At 2083m the Col de Mont Cenis was wonderful in Autumn so must be stunning in spring, carpeted in alpine flowers. We saw a few Gentiana verna in flower, along with sempervivums and saxifraga. The bike sculpture up there represented the Giro dItalia passing by. Cant wait to visit again!
