Tornado assistance focus of efforts Distribution center needs items The distribution center at Park City Baptist Church will be open through Wednesday, May 7, as well as the warehouse located at Landers Toyota building (formerly Woody Anderson Ford at 2626 Huntsville Highway). The center is in need of a number of items. Items needed include new sheets, crib sheets, blankets, pillows, and pillowcases, according to a released by Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency Sunday. On Saturday, officials had indicated a need for towels, wash clothes, dog and cat food, wheelbarrows, rakes and shoves. Park City Baptist will close on Wednesday, and all supplies and donations will be accepted at the warehouse at Landers McLarty, which will also serve as the distribution center. Need help with projects and clean-up For those individuals and families in the impacted areas, if you have projects and/or cleanup that you need assistance with or volunteer help, call (931) 438-1575. Free titanus shots The Lincoln County Health Department is offering free tetanus shots to those affected by the disaster. Anyone who may have lost their birth certificates dated 1949 to present may obtain a copy on site at the Lincoln County Health Department. Contact the department for procedures on how to replace WIC vouchers lost in the disaster. Disaster Relief for Lincoln County Monetary donations, for the benefit of impacted individuals and families, are being accepted at all branches of the Bank of Lincoln County. Donations to the Disaster Relief for Lincoln County may also be mailed to the Bank of Lincoln County, P.O. Box 778, Fayetteville, 37334. Funds will be disbursed through coordination with local officials. Any questions, please call Riverside Christian Academy at (931) 438-4722. Veterans in need of assistance Any veterans in need of assistance as a result of last week’s tornadoes here are urged to contact either Bill Harp, local veterans’ services office, at (931) 433-1897 or Greg Dodson, post commander-elect of American Legion Post 42, at (423) 834-3855. Relief forms may be obtained at the veterans service office in the Ralph Hastings Building on East Davidson Street in Fayetteville. Assistance from the American Legion National Emergency Fund could provide up to $1,500 grants to go toward repairs and cleanup. USDA here through Wednesday to help homeowners The U.S. Department of Agriculture will be in Lincoln County Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, May 6-7, from 8 a.m. They’ll be at Landers Toyota (Woody Anderson) to assist homeowners with loans and grants on repairs of their homes. Better Business Bureau at Howell Hill Community Center The Better Business Bureau of Middle Tennessee will be at the Howell Hill Community Center at 474 Howell Hill Road Tuesday through Friday, May 6-7, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. for those who may have questions about contractors or other businesses regarding cleanup. Attention contractors Contractors are reminded that they must have proof of a Tennessee contractor’s license, Lincoln County business license, Workman’s Compensation, and general liability insurance on them and ready to present. If not, they should be reported to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department. Please be aware of fly-by-night contractors, officials urge.
