Tornadoes rip through the Midwest leaving at least half a dozen - TopicsExpress

Tornadoes rip through the Midwest leaving at least half a dozen dead, hundreds of thousand without power, and a path of destruction leaving others homeless. Our hearts and prayers go out to them. I know its a bizarre question but do you think people are more sympathetic when things happen here at home? I ask because I overheard someone say people here in our country dont care and cant relate to tragedies abroad like the Philippines because theyre all the way on the other side of the world, and not in our own backyard. What do you think?
