Toronto International Film Festival 2014 Introduction Workshop Dear Filmmaker The Department of Trade and Industry (dti) and The Association for Transformation in Film and Television (ATFT) is inviting you to an export market introduction and readiness workshop on the Toronto International Film Festival 2014 in Durban, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg. As part of our mandate to up skill our members in financing, distribution, sales and co-production, ATFT will host four workshops in four cities in preparation for the Toronto International Film Festival taking place between the 04th - 14th of September 2014 in Toronto Canada. The workshops are open to any interested parties who are looking to attend next years Toronto International Film Festival, but are essential to delegates attending this years market with the ATFT/DTI delegation. The workshops will be split into two parts and the days programme will be as follows: 09h00-13h00 : The morning session is an introduction to ATFT and how our delegations work, as well as an introduction to the Toronto International Film Festival market and is for anyone who has never attended the market before. We will also explain the DTI EMIA scheme used to finance the delegations to attend these markets and how to apply through ATFT or as individual companies through the Individual Exhibitor scheme. We will also cover international feature film financing, sales, distribution and co-production and on how to make the most of the Toronto International Film Festival market and attract investment to your project or sell finished films. 13h00-14h00 : Lunch 14h00-16h00 : The afternoon session is specific to attendees projects and companies and how to go about selling them or financing them at this market. Attendees can ask the facilitator Hayet Benkera for advice and pitch their project to her and get advice. The Toronto International Film Festival workshops will be facilitated by Hayet Benkara: Hayet Benkara Biography No stranger to the film festival circuit, and international markets, French born and Toronto-based Hayet Benkara has many years of international experience. Benkara spent six years as the Manager of the Sales Office, the unofficial market, at the Toronto International Film Festival. Other prestigious festivals such as Cannes, Berlinale, International Film Festival Rotterdam and CineMart, T-Mobile New Horizons (Poland), Guanajuato International Film Festival (Mexico), Dubai and Abu Dhabi (the Emirates), Istanbul (Turkey), Dresden (Germany), Doha (Qatar) and the Binger Lab (Amsterdam) have benefited from her extensive network and knowledge of the global marketplace. In 2013, she launched and managed STUDIO, the first year-round professional training programme for mid-career producers and filmmakers at the Toronto International Film Festival. The workshops will take place on the following dates and in the following venues: 1.
