Tosca Workshop (London) Some roles are already cast. However, we are now seeking applications for the following roles: Baron Scarpia (dramatic baritone) Shepherd Boy (mezzo-soprano or contralto) Cesare Angelotti (buffo bass) A Sacristan (bass-baritone) Spoletta (buffo tenor) Sciarrone (lyric bass) Alessandro Talevi, in collaboration with Hashtag Opera, presents a week-long workshop culminating in a staged performance of Tosca. The focus of this project will be to highlight Puccini’s own stage directions and examine whether his musical style may be called a precursor to film composition before the dawn of cinema. Singers will benefit from detailed dramatic coaching and have the opportunity to perform their work for an audience. The workshop will run during the week of 23rd November, with the performance on either 28th or 29th November (depending on venue and pianist availability). Due to the limited turn around time of the project, you will be required to be off copy at the first rehearsal. The performance will be staged with piano.
