Total bummer. Used to love love love this group. It used to be fun loving, full of humor, peace, love, history and information. Now every time I pop in, theres some a$$hole insulting light skinned natives, natives that havent lived on the rez or sun danced, etc. I thought this was the point of this group. For us who have grown up or moved to the city and havent had the same experiences as those on the rez. Why are racist insults amongst our own people allowed to continue to spew their racist hate at us? Sure, everyone has a right to their own opinions and views and to speak. But why are we subjected to insults and racist comments? Why is this allowed? Why are we letting bigots have a voice in here? Ive added friends in here. Im sad I subjected them to this. The other day, I met a Lakota girl from Rosebud locally. Did she criticize me for being light skinned? No. We were happy to meet another native, wandering alone in the city. Kind of felt like running into a long lost cousin after many years, ya know? In fact, every native brother or sister Ive come across haa been mad cool. Has accepted me. Ive become close to many, despite the distance. Facebook, texting, emails, calls. Even sending gifts in the mail to each other. Is it at all possible to get our group back to the kind group? I love debate but the constant insults is getting old. Its a slow poison to undeserving people. Can we bring back respect and kindness to our own please? !
