Total shock. Robin Williams had an influence on me beyond the conscious. The first movie I ever saw three times in the theatre was Dead Poets Society, a movie whose main point: Carpe Diem, made me jump head first into entertainment; into doing what I loved, for regret and wishing Id done what I wanted when I was carefree and youthful enough to dare to try was a fate worse than death. No movie ever connected with me more. His therapist Sean in Good Will Hunting had a humanity and understanding that resonated with me beyond words. He had so many roles, from stand up comedy to Mork to The Fisher King to Adrian Kronauer in Good Morning Vietnam that inspired me as an on-air morning personality to stretch the limits of my own imagination in entertaining people who are looking for an escape, if even for a few minutes. To trust my instincts in making people laugh. The loss of Robin Williams is a tragedy beyond words to me, and no loss of a person I didnt personally know has ever affected me more, not even close. His life and talents had a bigger impact on me than I realized, and I am forever grateful. God bless you Robin for your talents and for the life that inspired so many, no one more than myself.
