Totally gutted and let down today by our council?!!!??!! Time line 1st February submit liquor licence with council in person and told 4-6 weeks (Inform them in person we aim to open 26th March) OK 20th March Call council get a response that they havent even looked at it?? Ask why?? Then if there is anything that I can do to speed it up? Response sorry we are under staffed and resourced but will email you your notice to put in paper. 26th March call them back and ask where this email is?? Response Sorry forgot to email but have posted it. Ask them to email while on the phone with them. Put the notice in the newspaper the next day. 2nd April Finally get a call from liquor license saying you need to provide an evening menu and get your landlord to fill in another form to be submitted. Then pay another $150 and drop into council. So email evening menu to them and jump in car drive to landlord get him to fill in form and then drive into town drop off form again to council. Told over the phone this could take another two months??? I feel so let down by our council that they can not do their job and serve the people of Christchurch and support businesses and people they employ?? We currently have 30 staff that we are responsible for and house over 60 small businesses at the Christchurch farmers market. Plus our own families as well!! If we treated them the same we would all not be in business and not have a job!!! We currently have one restaurant up and running Passengers+co which again was very hard to push over the line with the council. We hope to have Riccarton House up and running again this June and the Town Tonic next week (But you will not be aloud to have a drink with your meal) So gutted, disappointed and let down!!! That it may be best to move to a city that actually cares :( It shouldnt be me chasing the council!! This is simple stuff reply to each applicant within two weeks with a check list Please share if you feel the same disappointment I feel.
