Tottenham Hotspur are watching Burnley star Danny Ings as they weigh up whether or not to make a January bid for the striker. Ings has claimed he has no interest in leaving Turf Moor in January, but that may not stop Tottenham testing Burnley’s resolve to keep their best player. The 22-year-old’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, which has alerted a host of clubs to his potential availability. Tottenham sent scout Ian Broomfield to Turf Moor on Boxing Day to watch Ings play for Burnley against Liverpool. Ings had been impressive during his side’s 2-1 defeat at White Hart Lane only six days earlier and has scored four goals in 16 Premier League games. Tottenham could decide to wait until the summer and attempt to sign Ings on a Bosman deal, whereby they would only have to pay Burnley compensation for the England Under-21 international. But with Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez still out injured and Saido Berahino valued at over £20m by West Bromwich Albion, Tottenham may try to tempt Burnley into selling Ings in January for around £7m.
