September 6 : Top seeded and world no 36 and title holder Bojana Jovanovski has been drawn to take on Ukrainian Special exempt Kateryna Bondarenko in the opening round of the 16th edition of the edition of the Tashkent Open which gets underway at the Olympic Tennis Complex here . Former winner here and second seed here Irina Camelia Begu of Romania will take on talented Ukrainian Kateryna Kozlova , third seeded Karin Knapp will take on Turkish top player Cagla Buyukakcay , fourth seeded Lara Arruabarrena has been drawn to take on local favorite and wildcard Nigina Abduraimova Three other former winners here making a bid at becoming the first players to reclaim the title including Russian Ksenia Pervak has been drawn to play seventh seeded Anna-Lena Friedsam of Germany , Israels Shahar Peer takes on wildcard Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia while Alla Kudryatseva of Russia will take on a qualifier . The draws to the 16th edition of the Tashkent Open were made here by the WTA Supervisor Martina Lutkova. Tournament Director S. Uthrapathy , Mirjamol Yusov from the Tashkent Mayors office , local favorite Nigina Abduraimova were present at an impressive draw ceremony held at the Olympic Tennis school complex . In the lots drawn today the quarterfinal line up projected may see Top seeded Bojana Jovanovski of Serbia take on fifth seeded Donna Vekic winner of Malaysian Open this year , Second seeded Irina Camelia Begu could take on winner of the Suzhou 125 Challenger and seventh seeded Anna -Lena Friedsam , third seeded Karin Knapp of Italy and former finalist here takes on sixth seeded and fast rising Japanese Misaki Doau , while fourth seeded Lara Arruabarrena could take on eighth seeded Danka Kovinic of Montenegro in the last eight clash . Im happy that champions are coming back to the Tashkent Open , we have been consistently improving the event and the prize money and the players facilities and the results are showing. There are five ex winners and four finalists of previous years who are back .
