Tough day today.. Ive waited all day to post.. Spent some time on the field today with a lot of our players..the hardest thing was looking at them first thing this morning and telling them we had lost a family member in Jay. We shed some tears together and then did what my friend would have wanted..we had softball tryouts.. We lost a member of our Panther family today as well as a dear friend to me. Jay knew me as well as anyone and always knew when to say something funny, something serious and even when to say nothing at all when I was mad and upset after a loss or when we didnt play well. He wasnt only my assistant coach, he was my buddy, friend , confidant , sounding board , organizer and I loved him like a brother. Jay always put everyone else before himself , when he was so sick that I knew it was difficult for him to travel I would say Jay, are you sure you are good,? You know you dont have to go and he would just say yes I do He loved this organization and all of the kids that came through here..he always had room in his car for extra kids and if a kids family was struggling financially the money would mysteriously show up.. He did so much behind the scenes that I cant scratch the surface on here.. There is an empty feeling in my stomach today that seems that it will go on forever.. But my heart is full and overflowing because I know the love that everyone had for Jay.. my friend is no longer in pain.. And now is in Gods hands... God Bless Maria and his wonderful family. God has already blessed the rest of us by letting us know this great man.
