Tough night last night. Marlowe (new pup) has roundworm, and for the last 24 hours has had a couple of unusual stools. We hope it is just the roundworms dying and leaving her body, and not something more serious. She seems to be fine otherwise. Badgely has a history of back problems, for which he gets a shot about once a year, and hes back to normal. Well, a few days ago he seemed to have a minor back flare-up, so weve been giving him tramadol, which helped a little. Last night around midnight he took a nose dive. Serious pain, yelping, and unable to stand/walk properly. Rushed him to the emergency vet, where he received a shot of hydromorphone. We cant remember what his usual shot is, but it must not be hydromorphone, because hes usually back on his feet and acting like himself. He doesnt seem to be in much pain right now, but he is constantly whining. Just a low, quiet whine. Almost like he needs attention. Im not sure, maybe hes just still feeling the hydromorphone, and not sure what to make of the opiate? Hes also on a liquid nerve pain reducer, though I cannot recall the name of it off hand. Anyhow, we finally went to bed around 4am, but Abby didnt sleep well at all. We are both very stressed about Badgely, and would really appreciate some prayers. He is the Great Physician. Abby has gone back to bed to try to relax and get some rest. Tomorrow morning were taking him to his usual vet, and tomorrow cannot come fast enough.
