Tour Blog: Berlin and Prague! Yesterday we travelled to Bratislava, surrounded by endless forests and fields of sunflowers. The past couple of days have been equally beautiful - at least in terms of a visual and aural overload! What a privilege to have visited the breath-taking Kaiser-Wilhelm Gedachtnis Kirche in Berlin for a concert with the Berliner Singakademie and the University of Alabama Music School choir. The groups performed their repertoire for one another, after which all three choirs sang our old favourite, Ukuthula together. We had a similarly magical evening with our wonderful hosts, the womens choir Cancionetta Prague, in the Church of St Simon and Jude. An especially touching experience was during our performance of Nkosi Siphe Amandla, when we heard an audience member singing along. He was invited onto the stage and sang the rest of the song with us - a moment of an incredibly special connection between South Africans living far from home, as he was a member of our embassy in Prague. We would like to extend huge thanks to Franki Verwey and Makhenkesi Arnold Stofile, South African ambassadors in The Czech Republic and Germany respectively. We so enjoyed meeting you and your teams, and having the opportunity to perform for our fellow countrymen abroad. Thank you for your support and hospitality, and we hope that you will have the opportunity to travel home soon! Other highlights of the past couple of days have included night walks through the historic streets of Berlin, watching the Germany-Brazil game in a restaurant whose delicious falafel durums made up for its lack of space for our soccer fans, and a morning of exploring Pragues Old City, museums and shops. Now we are in Bratislava and we are be preparing for our first competition. Its opening ceremony was last night and we look forward to performing alongside hundreds of choirs from across the globe - even before we get to Riga! Sending much love to everyone back home!
