Tour Blog: Riga! After long bus rides through Krakow and Kaunas, we arrived at our ultimate destination - Riga, Latvia. The city is a hub of musical activity: red and yellow banners advertise Choir Games performances, choirs who are partaking give samples of their repertoire at outdoor park venues and along the streets, and buskers of all ages entertain crowds in the city squares. We have also added our South African flavour to the scene. So far we have competed in our first category of the World Choir Games - Musica Sacra. We will post results for this when we receive them, as well as those of tomorrows category, Chamber Choir. As part of the Games activities, we performed this evening at a Celebration Concert alongside choirs from Latvia, China and the Philippines. Our venue was the beautiful Sigulda Castle Open-Air Stage, and we sang while the sun was setting behind us - at 9pm! (The photos attached show our performance and audience.) While in the city over the past couple of days, we have not only been sound-checking and doing final rehearsals. We have also enjoyed touring around Rigas sights and shopping areas, as well as making sure to get enough rest for competition time. We cant believe that we are fast approaching Tour coming to a close, but we will be sure to make the most of the time we have left!
