Tourism industry backs conservation bill Cayman’s tourism industry leaders have thrown their weight behind the National Conservation Bill, saying protecting the island’s natural environment is critical to the long-term sustainability of the industry. The Cayman Islands Tourism Association endorsed the proposed law, which will go to the Legislative Assembly this week. Nearly 90 percent of tourism operators surveyed by CITA, including hoteliers, tour operators and SCUBA clubs, backed the bill. The association, which represents the interests of private tourism businesses, identified ‘protecting the environment’ as one of its key priorities for 2013, to ensure visitors keep coming to these shores. compasscayman/story.aspx?id=133097 Caymanian Compass Cayman Islands Tourism Association
