Tourists often see more of a place than its residents. We tend not - TopicsExpress

Tourists often see more of a place than its residents. We tend not to pay that much attention to where we live -- we know it intimately, of course, but familiarity breeds indifference, and I think most of us go about our day-to-day business barely registering the scenery around us. Even though Limerick is a small city, there are plenty of parts of it that I dont know very well -- indeed, there are parts Ive never even been to! Yesterday was a glorious day here, the sun was shining, the temperature was perfect, it felt and looked like somewhere in mainland Europe. I had a bit of time on my hands, so I thought I might as well enjoy it before baby Shan arrives, as Ill be up to my neck in nappies for quite a while after that!! So I went for a walk byt the river, from Sarsfield Bridge to Thomond Bridge, and took the time to properly look around and enjoy the sights, and it was pretty breathtaking! So my advice this Sunday morning is to take a bit of time today (or at the first opportunity you get) to be a tourist in your own home city, town or village. Im sure youll find it a most pleasing and surprising treat. BUT before you do that (sorry for the shameless segue!!) make sure you check out this really cool new review for Zom-B Underground, though I wouldnt recommend reading it unless youre read the first book, as it does contain spoilers!!! ads40.wordpress/2014/09/13/i-zombie-a-review-of-darren-shans-zom-b-underground/
