Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he gives favor. Proverbs 3:34 Note this: God does not like the scornful and the mocking person. Not that they are unloved or unredeemable, but their behavior is not a way of being that God smiles upon. When a person makes another, or anything (for what has not been created and given by God?) the object of their scorn, it is quite the opposite of righteous humility. The scorner sees him or herself as above others- above that which he or she scorns. But who of us is truly greater than any other person? Do we not all come from God and do we not all without Gods aid given graciously in Christ return to dust? So how are any of us Superior? The Lords favor is on those who realize this and respond to God and to our neighbors with humility that understands our proper place in Gods Kingdom.
