Township of Hamilton Police Press Release: Structure Fire On 1/24/2013 at 5:35 pm, the Township of Hamilton Police Department and Cologne Fire Department responded to Cologne Garden Apartments for a structure fire. Upon arrival responders discovered flames at the rear of building S. The fire originated on the outside wall of the first floor unit and spread up to the second floor. Several housing units experienced smoke and water damage. The quick response of firefighters stopped the progression of the fire which saved the other housing units in the building. Displaced residents are being housed in a local hotel by the owners of the development. No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation by Detective Frank Schalek and Fire Inspector Frank Primevera. Also assisting at the scene were Mays Landing, Laureldale, Germania and Cardiff Fire Departments, and the Mays Landing Rescue Squad.
