Townsville Festival of Innovation & Creativity: 24-27 November 2014 View this email in your browser Incorporating an Energy Futures Roundtable Townsville 24-27 November 2014 Regional Australia is facing many challenges to sustaining and improving quality of life into the future. Economic robustness, financial resilience, ecological sustainability all feature prominently. New technologies also open new frontiers, and create new opportunities and threats. But “business as usual” won’t cut it any longer. We need to ask new questions, and think creatively. In short, we need to get innovative. Over 3.5 jam-packed days, the Inaugural North Queensland Festival of Innovation and Creativity aims to harness the creative energies of local and visitors from far and wide, to promote a culture that recognises that innovation is pivotal to future prosperity, and embed innovative practice as part and parcel of everyday life. We aim to talk plenty of talk, as well as hopefully, walk some walk. When we look at Innovation we look past the traditional areas of the creative arts and industrial design. Innovation is about asking questions and finding new answers. And the questions can come from anywhere. So the Innovation Festival aims to do a few things: 1. Provide an opportunity for some of us to learn a bit more about how innovation works 2. Talk about some important themes and get some innovative ideas captured 3. Showcase some of the Innovation that is already going on within the local community, not just in the arts, but also in the business and government worlds and amongst young people. EVERYONE CAN BE AN INNOVATOR No matter who you are or what you do, you can be innovative in your life. And in so doing, make a lasting contribution to the next chapter of the Australian community.
