Toxins and poisons are enzyme inhibitors, they compete to bind to - TopicsExpress

Toxins and poisons are enzyme inhibitors, they compete to bind to active sites of a molecule in a metabolic reactions. An example, is sarin, a nerve gas that cause death and injury in Tokyo subway terrorism attack in 1995. This small molecule binds covalently to the R group of an amino acid serine, found in the active site of acetylcholinasterase, an enzyme of a nervous system. Other example is pesticides DDT and parathion. finally, many antibiotics are inhibitors of specific enzymes in bacteria.. penicillin blocks the active site of an enzyme that many bacteria use to make their cell walls. My conclusion, that chemicals in environment, pesticides, or toxins created in our body from indigestion of processed foods leads to cancer, nerve disorders, stomach problems, depression, and mental decline in modern Americans, who consume processed food.
