Tractor Supply asked me to write a review on my recent purchases and Mary and I had this very conversation this week after leaving TSC recently, they asked, so they got it : Inventory is poor in our Elkin store. Wilkesboro does have better inventory but it is further from my farm. By the time I travel to Elkin and find out it will be on the next truck then drive to Wilkesboro to see if they have it, I am finding that I can just drive to Southern States in Statesville with less time, less mileage and usually find a better quality product in stock for the same price. I was hired as an employee before the store was opened, set some of the first shelves in the store. Inventory is the key to retail sales, if I have to wait until the next truck I am better off to buy online and have it shipped to my home than run all over the country trying to find it in stock. Quit stocking so many toys, trinkets, figurines and start keeping feed on the shelves (out of dog food last week), fencing supplies on the shelf (I bought the last 3 rolls of high tensile wire last week and needed 5) and supplies on the shelf that FARMERS need if you want to keep the farmers business.
