Tractor Trailer Crash On I-91 Detailed WINDSOR, VT--Today, at approximately 6:13 a.m., Vermont State Police responded to an Aarons owned tractor trailer unit full of electronics and furniture that crashed on I-91 in Windsor, VT. The tractor and trailer unit was operated by Robert McCabe of CT. McCabe told troopers that he was traveling at a speed believed to be 60 miles per hour at the time of the crash due to the heavy rain. He advised as he rounded the curve on this section of I-91 he felt the trailer start to fishtail which then caused the unit to jackknife. McCabe advised he was able to straighten and regain control and then attempted to utilize the guard rail to slow the unit. The guard rail was unable to handle the momentum of the unit, subsequently causing the unit to go through the rails and down a 30-40 foot embankment. McCabe was transported to the Mount Ascutney Hospital where he was treated for back pain. I-91 was reduced to one lane for approximately 6 hours while Hill Side Auto recovered the unit. The case remains under investigation at this time.
