Tradition Continues: BPD Honors Detective Donald Brown with the #1 Badge One of the longer running traditions within the Boston Police Department is the bestowing of the badge bearing the #1 to the officer – or in this case detective – who has the most time on the job. As it relates to the rank of detective, that person is District A-1 (Downtown) Detective Donald Brown. Brown began his career with the BPD as a police cadet in 1970. He became a full time police officer in 1979 and, six years later, he attained the rank of detective, a position he has occupied and served the citizens of the City of Boston in for close to twenty years. Those who know or who have worked with Donnie Brown all rave about his professionalism and passion for the profession. Said Lt. Charles Wilson, Hes a consummate professional who loves the job. After all these years, he still comes to work excited about helping people. Today, Friday, September 19, 2014, Commissioner Evans honored Detective Brown for his years of dedicated service by presenting him with a detectives shield bearing the #1. To Detective Brown, we say, Congratulations and keep up the great work. The honor is certainly well earned and well deserved.
