Tradition can be a good thing, but it can also be a bad thing. Any time tradition causes us to do something contrary to Gods Word or stifle the work of God, then it is wrong. Then we best forget tradition and follow Gods Word. It is not enough to say, Thats the way we have always done it. I would ask then this question, Is it still working? Our society and times have changed. Im not saying try something contrary to the Word Of God, but using different methods, if needed, to win men to Christ. Many Churches today are so steeped in tradition that the work of God is stifled and cant go on. God helps us that we always follow Gods Word and not what men may tells us to do. Tradition is wrong when we confuse tradition with the Word of God. Things are being preached, which have no Biblical basis, but have been handed from generation to generation. Tradition is wrong when tradition causes the church to not carry out the Word of God. The delight of the enemy is when tradition causes us not to serve God right. Traditionalists say, “We’ve never done it that way before, or I dont believe we can afford to do that, or thats the way we have always done it. Following tradition can kill the ministry of a church and may even kill the church, if it will not see the need for change. We must be anchored to the Rock of ages, but be geared to the times. WARNING! The change must NEVER EVER compromise the Word of God. Our methods will change, but our message must never change.
