Tradition is the handing down of ones beliefs from generation to generation.Heres what the Bible says in Mark 7:6-9, He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. The reason why so many professing Christians fall prey to false teachings is so they can hold on to their traditions that they love so much. But Jesus made it clear that keeping manmade traditions are dangerous. Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye. (Mark 7:13) This happens when scripture is twisted and taken out of context to make the verse say what they would like it to say instead of the clear and simple teachings of the Bible, that even a child could understand. Traditions not only burden those who are in Christ but it keeps them from believing and therefore receiving all the benefits Jesus died to give us. For example, have you ever heard the expression,if it be the Lords will? Well, how are you ever going to believe, let alone pray to God the Father for anything if you dont know what the will of God is? The Bible says in Eph. 5:17, Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. God is not some big mystery we have to solve. He has given us His Word and a witness, that lives in us to give us insight and revelation into His glorious characteristics. We are made in the exact image of God Himself. So, why would He try to hide Himself from us? He doesnt! And, its up to us individually to search Him out. seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. All scripture has to agree. If you dont think it does, well youre just missing it somewhere because God is always right! 100% of the time. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. ( 2 Tim. 2:15) If you think you have heard something from the pulpit or another ministry that you dont agree with, dont get into pride but search the scriptures for yourself. And dont be afraid to admit that you missed it. Weve ALL missed it at one time or another. Just remember though, whatever you hear, make sure its TRUTH; The Word of God! Not someones idea. The Word will ONLY work for you, when it lines up with the Word! We @ Liberty Chapel Pentecostal love you and pray daily for you. Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. libertychapelpentecostal/
