Traditional Persian Ferdos Runner Rug 120 cm x 305 cm, Thickness 0.7 cm Ferdos is located in the northwest of South East Khorasan province of Persia. It is about 350 km south of Mashad, another popular Persian rug making region. Popular colours used in Ferdos rugs are red, beige, cream and black. The patterns in Ferdos rugs are mainly geometric, but there are often ‘trees’ within the pattern, often described as the ‘trees of life’ in ancient writings. Flora and fauna patterns are regular features, with beautiful depictions of flowers, repeated in mesmerizing geometric patterns that are woven in such great detail. The knot density of Ferdos rugs, a traditional measure for quality of handmade Persian carpets and handmade Persian rugs, range from 30 knots per square inch (KPSI) on the low end to 90 knots per square inch (KPSI) on the high end. Ferdos rugs have a pile, determined by the density and the length of the carpet fibres that are used to weave these Persian rugs, of wool on a foundation, the strong threads that make up the base of Persian carpets, of cotton or wool. atlantisrugs/clearance/traditional-persian-ferdos-rug-4#
