Traditionally found in the dairy and meat products from ruminents, Bionutrients CLA capsules are derived from Safflower. Research carried out on mice in the late 1970s found that those who had a beef extract applied to their skin, prior to being exposed to a strong carcinogen, had 20% fewer tumours develop. This anti-carginogen was called CLA or Conjugated Linoleic Acid. However, CLA has other health properties, particularly those focused on weight loss. Conjugated Linoleic Acid is able to increase lean muscle mass and reduce body fat. In an analysis conducted in 2007, it was decided that CLA does have a positive effect on fat reduction. The effects of weight loss at the recommended dose of 3.2grams per day, although not huge, are still significant at 90g per week or 4.68 Kilos per year. It is not an answer to obesity and increasing the dosage does not significantly improve weight loss. Any weight reduction is also offset by the 1% increase in lean body mass. Tests carried out in 2007 on a group of overweight/obese subjects provided no indications of adverse effects in the blood glucose levels. bionutrients.co.uk/Tablet-And-Capsule-Supplements/CLA-Capsules
