Traffic ADVISORY A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation - TopicsExpress

Traffic ADVISORY A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is placing intermittent lane restrictions on the US 231 Ohio River “William Natcher” Bridge in Daviess County. The contractor is replacing the bridge roadway lighting on the bridge. The existing steel poles are showing signs of corrosion and had been requiring constant maintenance. They are being replaced with aluminum poles and heads. The new lighting will use high-efficiency LED fixtures that will reduce power consumption while providing higher roadway illumination levels than the existing system. The contractor has been working on the installation in between more time-sensitive projects as wind and weather conditions allow. The work should be completed over the next 2 to 4 weeks, weather permitting. Motorists should be alert for lane restrictions on the bridge from time to time during daylight hours to facilitate the work. The Willliam Natcher Bridge is at the 14 mile marker on US 231 in Daviess County, Kentucky. The US 231 Ohio River Bridge opened to traffic in October 2002 and is named for long-time Western Kentucky Congressman William Natcher. It carries approximately 6,000 vehicles across the Ohio River each day between Owensboro, KY, and Rockport, IN. The Natcher Bridge is at Ohio River navigation mile point 745.
