Traffic Modeling / Planning Engineer - Qatar Mobility Innovations Center – Doha The Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC), Doha, Qatar, invites applications for a full-time Engineer in the area of traffic modeling and planning. The expected start date is October/Nov 2013. A Bachelor (Master is preferred) degree in Traffic Engineering/Modeling or Civil Engineering Applicants should hold a Bachelor (Master is preferred) degree in Traffic Engineering/Modeling or Civil Engineering. Key job requirements include: - 3 to 5 years of experience - Strong English communication skills (written and verbal. Knowledge of Arabic is a strong asset) - Ability to work independently - Strong background in traffic engineering and transport systems - Experience in traffic modeling and simulation - Knowledge of traffic VISUM/VISSIM modeling software - Thorough knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices and methods as applicable to Traffic Systems - Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of Traffic System operations - Experience in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) - Prior consulting experience is a strong plus The engineer should have experience in utilizing computer-aided design and modeling packages to study traffic patterns and determine how can equipment modifications, access to traffic information, or road alterations could improve traffic conditions. The candidate should be able to identify systems and methods/technologies that can minimize hazards and maximize efficiency on roadways. Candidate should be able to investigate dangerous roads and intersections, design traffic control devices, and determine how to effectively implement new policies and ICT technologies. The candidate will also work with key partners in Qatar and the region to provide consulting and client representation services within the areas of traffic modeling, management and planning. Qualified candidates must have three to five years of progressive experience in traffic and intelligent transportation engineering. The candidate must be skilled in analyzing traffic operations and safety using simulation and analytical tools to draw logical conclusions and provide recommendations in generating traffic reports and traffic impact studies. The candidate must also have an understanding of different areas of traffic engineering standards and procedures including intersections, roadways, and traffic signal design.
