Traffic Unit Investigating Fatal Crash An early morning crash resulted in the death of a 27-year-old Groves man. At about 2:25 a.m., Patrol Officers responded to a reported one-vehicle crash in the 100 block of E. Cardinal. Upon arrival, the officers found the driver deceased on the scene. Traffic Unit Investigators responded and the preliminary investigation determined that the driver was heading southbound on Cardinal when he left the roadway and struck the guardrail. The driver did not appear to be wearing his seat belt, which resulted in him being ejected from the vehicle. Traffic Unit Investigators identified the driver as 27-year-old Eduardo Garcia of Groves. Officers notified Mr. Garcia’s immediate next of kin this morning. While we are still in the early phase of this investigation, Investigators do feel that speed was a factor in this fatal crash.
