Traffic is still crazy in Makati. But I was amused at what happened at the height of the flash floods 3 hours ago. Typical Cebuano-Tagalog confusion. I was trying to get to the Skyway entrance when a pedestrian told me to turn around, as the flood ahead was thigh-deep. I did as he said. After completing my turn, I rolled down my window in bumper-to-bumber traffic as I passed on the tip to drivers still going to that direction: “Pare, umikot ka na. Hanggang paa raw ang baha sa unahan.” I passed the tip to two drivers who didn’t seem to care before I realized that “paa” in Tagalog means feet. In Cebuano, it means thigh. :)
