JUST DRIVE! ™ A U.S. Army veteran and retired Lee County, FL, EMS Captain, he serves as an elected Fire Commissioner with the South Trail Fire and Rescue District, Chair of the Florida Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) distracted driving emphasis area team, Leader, Distracted Driving Goal Team - Florida Injury Prevention Advisory Council (FIPAC), vice-chair of the Lee County Community Traffic Safety Team (CTST), sits on the Board of Directors for the National Safety Council Florida Teen Safe Driving Coalition (FTSDC), the Lee County Injury Prevention Coalition (IPC) and the Lee County Sheriff’s Youth Activities League (SYAL). He is also a member of the: • American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association (ADTSEA). • Florida Bicycle Association (FBA) . • Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS). • Safe Kids Lee/Collier. • The Florida Providers for Traffic Safety (TFPTS). • Traffic Incident Management Team (TIM). • Traffic Management Operations Committee (TMOC), Vice-Chair. • World Health Organization (WHO) Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011 – 2020. Recognized by U.S DOT Secretary Ray LaHood and former Florida Governor Charlie Crist, Jay was a panelist at the Florida Distracted Driving Summit, writes articles on traffic safety and distracted driving for numerous publications’ is a core team member developing the Lee county Bicyclist/Pedestrian Safety Action Plan, a certified Commercial Driving Instructor, Emergency Vehicle Driver Training Instructor, Car Fit Event Coordinator, National Traffic Incident Management Responder Train-the-Trainer and an instructor for the Lee Memorial Health System Trauma Services Young Drivers Program, the Florida Sheriff’s Association Teen Driver Challenge and the court ordered High Risk Drivers Course.
