Tragedy struck the hearts of many in Putrajaya when a car collided violently with a light pole at Southern Excursion. The incident was said to have unfolded around 6.45am on 3/9/2014. The result was the death of three of the passengers. One was severely injured. The recently deceased passengers were 18 years of age and the driver, whom had survived was 21 years old. The victims were later identified as M. Harisankar from Klang, V. Thivagor from Puchong and V. Thamilarasan from Kuala Selangor. The victims were students at Multimedia University. They died at the scene the accident. A N.Yogen was taken to Hospital Putrajaya to be treated. He was behind the wheel of the Proton Wira that had been reduced to nothing more than a pile of shredded metal. The group of four were on their way back to MMU Cyberjaya after having breakfast at Hotel Pullman Putrajaya. The police Chief ACP Abdul Razak Abdul Majid stated that the vehicle had been travelling at excessive speeds and the driver had lost control and swerved to meet a light post. The extraction of the corpses were done with the assistance of the Fire and Rescue Department and alongside seven other Cyberjaya members. The bodies were sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem. According to a fellow student, whom was not willing to be named stated that one of the tires had exploded, resulting in the violent crash. It has been told that they were excellent students and had enrolled in the university last June. The incident had come as a shock to many, especially the victim’s family members.
