Tragically, the unwarranted shooting of an unarmed young man, Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO and the angry demonstrations that we are once again witnessing all around this nation are the tipping point about so much more than the actual shooting itself. It is really about disenfranchised, marginalized persons who have for years been denied access to a decent quality of life--education, economics, employment and equality. Unfortunately, President Obama is uneasy in his role as the titular head of the African-American community, called on to address all things black. I know many were disappointed in his speech recently, but he is just not comfortable in this role. I believe we need to address the crisis in education and unemployment if we are serious about ending this carnage in our streets. To all preachers, when the gospel is The Gospel it addresses every need and speaks to every issue without manipulation, adjustment or addition. Whatever you had planned to preach on tomorrow, it will be enough and it will bless the people and it will save the community. Preach with Power!!!! Live on purpose.
