Trail Partners I had an occasion to ride With a couple I just met. A man and his wife from Texas I hardly knew them yet. A friendly pair and happy Good riding buddies it seemed. I had no inkling at all That one could be so mean. As we were riding along It quickly became plain The mans horse had a problem But it wasnt in any pain. About every fifteen minutes You could almost set your clock A gastric attack would occur As that horse would walk. It was almost embarrassing The sounds that horse would make. Certainly not an animal Id want to take on a date. Now for the real story, My purpose for this tale. When I remember what happened My face begins to pale. A limb stuck thru the stirrup And gouged the horses side Of the horse the woman was riding twas more than the horse could abide. As a warning the man said, Its gouging him! Which the wife took the wrong way I never heard such language Not to this very day. I slipped quietly on down the trail Making myself small I didnt want caught in the middle, Nope not at all. LGH
