Trail Work at Waldrop! Saturday Aug 17, 2013 - Sunday Aug 18, 2013 Join BMA and WRV for some awesome trail work at this spectacular mountain destination. Recently, the US Forest Service has created the new "Brainard Gateway Traihead." In 2012, WRV, CMC & BMA restored habitat around the parking lot and constructed a 450 foot connector trail from this new trailhead to the Sourdough Trail. This weekend we will continue our efforts in this vicinity by constructing a 2500 foot natural surface trail from the Sourdough to the Waldrop trail, establishing a more direct trail route westword. The project includes 80 feet of boardwalk, 450 feet of stone causeway, rock work for "rock hounds" and plenty of basic trail construction for beginners new to trail construction. When the new trail segment is done, we will close and restore about 700 feet of old trail. Volunteers will be working at an elevation of about 10,000 feet and camp nearby at a beautiful forested site normally closed to the public. Funding from the Arapaho Roosevelt Pawnee Foundation and Colorado State Trails Program. Sign up at: https://wlrv.net/index.php?section=events&action=list&type=projects#event1092
