Trail update for the Geilston Creek & Pilchers Hill area. Over the last few weeks some signage has gone up in the area and the G-String track is now a 1 way climbing trail only. While it is was a fun trail to descend, due to the construction techniques and poor sight lines in places, the decision was made to keep all users safe. With the closure of this trail, there is a opportunity to create a new MTB specific descending trail using a combination of new trail, non formal existing trail and disused fire road. A 1.2k alignment has been proposed to take in lots of natural features and alternate A lines to keep people with a higher skill level happy. With any luck, the alignment will be ticked off this week and construction could start soon. Another big advantage is that it will provide a much needed loop option in the area that has a lot of out and back trails. So the big question, would you or your business be keen in help fund this trail? Along with a majority portion being volunteer built, there is estimated to be a couple of days of excavation work required and no currently available funds set aside in the CCC FY budget. Just say we set a $1000 target for funding this project through crowd funding, would you chip in?
