MTT96 Energymiser trials will operate between Gore – Balclutha 08:00 until 16:00 hours. 955, 956 will not run. For those in the Wellington area this weekend: - All EMU services in the electrified area are cancelled from Saturday until Midnight Sunday. 640 will not run. Description of track work Kapiti Line: KiwiRail will be replacing wooden piles with steel ones to continue to upgrade the overhead electrical cables on the Kapiti Line. This work will improve the power supply for the signals on the Kapiti Line, future proof the rail network in the Wellington area, and enable customers to enjoy the benefits of a more robust electrical rail system. Ducting work will also take place about Tawa Station. Johnsonville Line: Work will be undertaken to clear vegetation along the rail corridor, carry out inspections of structure and tunnel, and routine track maintenance. Wellington City Council and New Zealand Transport Association will also be lifting in bridge beams at Broderick Road overbridge in Johnsonville. The renewal work will involve the replacement of old sleepers with new concrete sleepers using an excavator with a sleeper laying frame. We will also be removing and replacing old ballast with excavators and changing some rail. Other maintenance activities will also take place during this period. The work site is located 500m south of Crofton Downs Station. Crofton Downs station will be used as an access point for plant and materials that will be required to complete this work, therefore this area will see a bit more activity than normal. Hutt Valley and Wairarapa Line: The line will be closed for essential maintenance work to be undertaken between Upper Hutt and Wellington. Essential maintenance work taking place during this time includes track repair work south of Petone Station, at the south end of Taita Station, and drainage and repair work near Manor Park Station. Auckland Upgrade Closures: - Sunday 23 November 2014 Saturday 29 November 2014: Diesel trains will replace electric trains on Manukau services to allow for Otahuhu Station redevelopment work. Trains from Manukau to Britomart will operate five minutes earlier than normal schedule due to a single platform only available at Otahuhu Saturday 6 December 2014: Buses replace trains between Penrose and Papakura and between Sylvia Park and Manukau/Papakura. This is to continue with the Otahuhu Station redevelopment. Saturday 20 December and Sunday 21 December 2014: Buses replace trains between Penrose and Papakura and between Sylvia Park and Manukau/Papakura. This is to continue with the Otahuhu Station redevelopment. Thursday 25 December 2014 to Sunday 4 January 2015: Full network closure – a bus replacement service will operate on all lines. This is to allow for significant track maintanence at Newmarket, Penrose, Westfield, Wiri and Papakura, sleeper replacement on the Eastern Line, station work at Otahuhu and NZTA motorway work at Takanini and Ellerslie. Monday 5 January to Sunday 11 January 2015: Buses replace trains on the Western Line. Normal train services will operate on all other lines. This is to allow for track upgrades at Morningside and Kingdon Street and sleeper replacement works at level crossings.
