Train Crossings! This Video is dedicated to all my Railroad - TopicsExpress

Train Crossings! This Video is dedicated to all my Railroad Friends, & those that proceeded us in death!! Some people sit at train crossings complaining about their busy day being interrupted. I dont like being stopped either, if I am in an extreme hurry, I see which way the train is moving, and head the opposite direction. For those that are still sitting & complaining, think of this town being a railroad town. In 1968 I was hired by the Norfolk Western Railroad as an agent/operator to work summer vacations, and then attend Purdue in the Fall majoring in electrical engineering. I could have went in any craft, and sometimes on beautiful days I wish that I would have chosen to become an engineer. In 1968 Frankfort had 3 major Railroads running through town. N&W had its Division Headquarters located in Frankfort, and was the largest employer. PRR & Monon were the other two Railroads. When my Grandmother Sorling would visit us she always came from Chicago on the Monon to Frankfort. I always enjoyed meeting her & sometimes Grandpa would be with her at the Depot. Our community owes a lot to these major railroads in developing Clinton County, and still pays a ton of taxes for every foot of rail, switches, and acreage they own. They arent just an inconvenience, they are a huge community taxpayer. The NS Railroad is more than that for me, and to hear them go by the Studio is pure music to my ears. Music the trains play as they blow for the crossings, and wheels & crossing sounds assures me that I have a secure retirement. Not only that, each train brings back a different railroad memory.
