Train to the next level. If you are in a position to influence - TopicsExpress

Train to the next level. If you are in a position to influence others, be self-motivated and set good examples. Know that by training, you become comfortable, confident, and knowledgeable enough for your actions to serve as their own rewards in and of themselves. Encourage others to participate and dont let them make up an excuse. Tell them they need to put their pride aside or if theyre insecure about themselves, show them that were all human and its okay to make mistakes. If they think what you are doing doesnt apply, explain to them how it does. For the most part firefighters want to learn, but they also want to know why. Take advantage of that desire. The timing and duration of the drills will certainly influence the attitudes of those around you. If you are doing it right though, there wont be a need to over-do it and those that are participating will be more attentive and want to do it more. I was given an opportunity recently to hone in my skills, not because I felt they were deficient, but simply for the sake of wanting to be better. I can not begin to tell you how fortunate I am to have the friends that I do at our fire academy or how thankful I am for what theyve provided me. You dont have to train day and night to be good at what you do, just dont pass up the chance to challenge yourself and learn what and when you can.-The Truck From Holding 1&1
