Traineeships: Find out more and apply at penrithcity.nsw.gov.au Combining on-the-job experience and study towards a nationally recognised qualification, Penrith City Council trainees will experience a wide variety of Council community services and work opportunities. Applicants can choose from award winning traineeships in Business Administration, Child Care, Hospitality, Information Technology or Sport and Recreation. CHILDCARE You love interacting with children, helping them to learn and develop. You’ll work in one of our quality local Child Care Centres four days a week and attend TAFE one day a week to gain a Certificate III in Children’s Services. You will gain hands on experience in a demanding, but very rewarding career path. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY You’re a ‘techspert’ who likes solving PC issues, and keen on a career in IT. Our Information Technology department provides PC support to hundreds of Civic Centre and off-site Council staff. You’ll develop communication and diagnostic skills, whilst studying a TAFE Certificate III in Information Technology and gaining on-the-job IT experience. HOSPITALITY (COOK) You love to cook and have an interest in child nutrition. Help prepare nutritious meals for one of Council’s childcare centres. You’ll work with a trained Cook, preparing meals to meet the children’s dietary and cultural needs. You’ll study TAFE Certificate II in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations), giving you fundamental skills for any future hospitality career. BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION You want to experience working in an office environment. The Business Administration Traineeship offers a large variety of positions throughout Council, based at the Civic Centre in Penrith, with the exception of the rotating Children’s Services Clerical trainee. You will perform general office duties and tasks specific to the department you are placed in whilst studying a TAFE Certificate III in Business Administration once a month at Nepean TAFE. Traineeships are offered over a variety of departments. The above are to be used as a guide only. Not all departments offer positions each year.
