Training in NDA:- All cadets joining the National Defence Academy (NDA) after their 10+2 Examination are trained in the Academy for three years culminating into graduation in B.A/B. Sc. or B. Sc. (Computer Science) degree of Jawaharlal Nehru University. Apart from academic training they are also trained in outdoor skills, like Drill, Physical Training and games. The emphasis in NDA is on character building, esprit-de-corps, mental and physical robustness, leadership and a sense of keen observation. NDA has an excellent infrastructure for all-round training of cadets. The academic year is divided into two terms, viz. Spring Term (January to May ) and Autumn Term (July to December). Here a cadet has to undergo training for a total of six terms before he passes out from NDA. Academic Training:- Cadets are allowed to go for the following three streams: B. A (Political Science, Economics, History) B. Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) B. Sc (Computer Science ) (Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science) Computer Appreciation is a compulsory subject for all cadets irrespective of their stream. The cadets also learn following mandatory subjects; Hindi, English, Foreign Language (Arabic/Bhutanese/Chinese/ French/German/Russia/Urdu). First day: (a) Filling up of PIQ (Personal Information Questionnaire) form. (b) Filling in the personal particulars in forms supplied by SSB. (c) Grouping of candidates and allotment of chest numbers. Second day: Screening Test or Stage I Testing. (a) Intelligence Tests. (b) PPDT (Picture Perception and Description Test). 2. Third day: Psychologists tests. (a) Intelligence Tests (Both Verbal and Non-Verbal). (b) Story Writing Tests (TAT – Thematic Apperception Tests). (c) Word Association Test (WAT). (d) Situation Reaction Test (SRT). (e) Self-Description Tests. Fourth day: GTO Tasks and Interviews. (a) Group Discussion. (b) Military Planning. (c) Progressive Group Tasks. (d) Inter Group Obstacle Race or Snake Race. (e) Half Group Task. (f) Individual Obstacles. (g) Interview of some candidates by President/Deputy President. Fifth day: GTO Tasks and Interviews. (a) Final Group Task. (b) Lecturette. (c) Command Task. (d) Interview of the remaining candidates. Note: If necessary, some candidates are interviewed in the evening. 3. Sixth day: Final Board conference is held and the results are announced. Each candidate appears for a couple of minutes before the entire Board assembled in the Conference room. Here he is asked a few general questions (for details refer chapter 28 of conference). Those who are selected are asked to stay for 4 to 5 days for their medical. Army Cadet College (ACC) Army Cadet College (ACC), Dehradun is a Wing of IMA which caters for training of service cadets selected for commission. The academic format is similar to the NDA on the lines of 10+2+3 and the syllabus is common. Army Cadet College Wing (ACC Wing) imparts the first phase of pre-commission training to selected other Ranks to meet their aspirations to become officers in the Indian Army. The Wing runs a three years degree course spread over six semesters of six months each. It is affiliated to the Jawaharlal Lal Nehru University for award of B.A./B.Sc. degrees. After graduating from the ACC Wing, the cadets join IMA in the second term and undergo one year training before being commissioned as regular officers in the Army. Central Police Force (AC) CENTRAL POLICE ORGANISATIONS EXAMINATIONS Union Public Service Commission will hold a Written Examination for recruitment of Assistant Commandants (Group A) in the Central Police Forces (CPF) viz. Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) as given out in the advertisement. Selection will be based on the basis of a written examination to be conducted by the UPSC followed by Physical Standards/ Physical Efficiency Test and Medical Standards Test to be conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Personality Test/ Interview to be conducted by UPSC.
