Training for an Ironman distance Triathlon and a Powerlifting meet - TopicsExpress

Training for an Ironman distance Triathlon and a Powerlifting meet at the same time is so far... not fun. Its taking it toll on my bod for sure, but at the same time I am learning a lot about what this ol chasis can take. Running 8 miles after squats at 500lbs and Deads over 500lbs tends to make my EVERYTHING hurt a little. I pushed it to edge again last week and it affected my sleep for four consecutive nights. Overtraining = interupted sleep = overtraining. A little Magnesium Threonate and Poliquin Groups RestoRem and the sleep is solid again. This week I pulled back on the lifting and worked on some strongman stuff for a Crossfit style competition tomorrow - Competitive Edge Performance Select8 at CrossFit Clayton. Im feeling good and ready to up the endurance volume even more next week. I planned on taking a break after the October Tri and meet, but theres a new thing out there... the 666 Challenge: 600 Dead, 600 squat and a 6 minute 1 mile run. Recently Brandon Crabill nailed it and now it has my attention. Anyone else want in? The mile is easy enough... Ladies (because I know more badass, fearless women than men) Ill find out what the conversion for you is on the 666 challenge. Stand by. Credit where its due: Alex Viada is the devil behind much of this. Luckily hes providing excellent guidance and training on concurrent work. Read his articles on completehumanperformance to better understand why many of us are crushing the conventional idea an athlete cannot be strong and have endurance.
