Training tip: Mixed grip or double overhand grip For those - TopicsExpress

Training tip: Mixed grip or double overhand grip For those who dont know mixed grip refers to griping the bar with one palm facing you, the other facing away. Double overhand is both palms facing you. Now when it comes to Deadlifts, Romanian Deadlifts, shrugs, bent over rows you may often see people switch to mixed grip as the weight increases. This is purely because grip is the weakest link and so by going mixed enables you to lift more But should you use mixed grip or not? Personal recommendation is to stay double overhand for as long as possible. If the repetitions are 3 and below I would suggest mixed grip of you cannot hold it in double. But as the reps increase as well as weight you will find the mixed grip may off set scapula, bicep, hip, glute and hamstring strength. So for 3 reps and above where the weight is too heavy to hold use straps, this way you can focus on the intended muscle I.e. Lats in bent over row instead of worrying about grip #Cardiff #Training #deadlift #Strength #Powerlifting
