«TransCanada Pipelines to hold off drilling in beluga habitat MONTREAL — Environmental groups cried victory Friday after TransCanada Pipelines agreed to hold off on exploratory drilling in an important beluga habitat in the Lower St. Lawrence River until it receives a provincial permit. The commitment was part of an out-of-court settlement the firm reached Friday with organizations that had applied for an injunction to prevent underwater drilling for a future marine terminal at Cacouna, 440 kilometres northeast of Montreal, to ship crude from the Alberta oilsands. Its a victory from start to finish, said Michel Bélanger, a lawyer who filed the May 15 injunction request in Quebec Superior Court on behalf of four environmental groups, including the David Suzuki Foundation and Nature Québec, along with Cacouna resident France Dionne.» montrealgazette/technology/TransCanada+Pipelines+hold+drilling+beluga+habitat/9871456/story.html
