Transformation Tuesday A fella from CCF started a year ago as his story is one of a kind, its Gerald Myers story one that matters and becomes a true inspiration to me and to others around him! I noticed all the activity he has been doing on the weekends which is way more than the average person as I just stated last week how awesome it is to watch his journey of living a balanced and fit life! He told me that he doesnt come to train at CCF just because he likes to train yet more for the stength to do what he loves outside of the gym which was a beautiful statement! Its everything we do at CCF day in and day out which is TRAIN FOR LIFE! Gerry the gift you left in my card was so kind and I am appreciative of you and your generous heart although I must say that your testimony typed out from YOU and watching you blossom as Kylie Keenan continues to train you to be the best version of yourself has been the greatest gift of all! I am so thankful for you as I know that CCF is 90% females which can be intimated or just too weird for most guys. Yet the 10% of males, including yourself that make their gym life a dedicated devotion to get rocked by a few chicks are admired and simply respected! Especially when you wanted to quit, call it a day and go back to your old ways! I give so much props to Kylie as she continues to press you outside of your comfort zone which enhances your bike/hike game for all the days of your life! Your letter is framed and will be nailed to a wall forever In CCF! Congrats buddy September 29, 2014 Dear Camie, Its been a year since I started Kylies class (plus a few months of private training). Thank you for encouraging me and creating a place free from negative attitude and insults towards people that are not in the best of shape. I am encouraged when I see someone at the gym struggling and those who are in great shape encouraging them and telling them that they are doing a great job. The first month of classes I wanted to quit every single day. I was the only male in the gym and every other person could lift more, run faster and leave me in their dust at virtually everything! My original goals were to loose 40 lbs, regain strength in a surgically repaired shoulder and climb hills on my bike faster. I lost 35 pounds, can lift two times as much using my shoulders and my time up one of the local training hills went from 10:46 to 5:42. Along the way I also climbed Mt. Whitney, ran in the Reno Tahoe Odyssey, conquered my first category 3 climb, conquered for the first time (75 miles, 4500 feet of climbing) and rode over 8500 feet above sea level for the first time. None of these would have been possible if I had quit. You instill that sense of confidence that not only can I do these things, but I can finish strong. At 50+ I had completed all of the goals that I had set for my life and figured it was all downhill. Now I am looking forward to another year of taking on new physical challenges with the confidence that I can achieve all my goals and enjoy the process along the way. It is time for new goals. My goals for 2014-2015: lose the last 5 pounds from last year, and another 10 (15 pounds total). Ride the Crater Lake Century, put together a team to ride the Silver State 508 and enjoy life.
