Transition and Christmas - Mary was young. Her whole life was spent in her little village with her father and mother. Every once and a while they would travel to visit family for a holiday, but that was about the span of her life and understanding. Even her husband, a small town boy with family roots in the line of David - wasnt far out of her scope of normal. Then the unthinkable happened... an angel appears and Mary finds she is miraculously pregnant. then... Joseph and her marry... then... they have to travel to Bethlehem... then... she is a first time mother... a mother of God incarnate! then... they have to travel to Egypt... Talk about transitions! When transition comes (not if) in our lives we have two decisions to make: 1) We can accept it. 2) We can embrace it. The first refers to the understanding that its happening and the concept of recognizing the truth of what is going on. The latter refers to a heart motive, an attitude - an enthusiastic acceptance. Mary teaches us in her 2 or so years of insane transition how we should also handle any form of transitions in our lives: Luke 2:19 - But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. Mary embraced her transition. She held it all deep within her heart. Transition is a part of life. Change is inevitable. There is no faith needed in accepting that. Faith is needed in the embrace
