Transitions at Converting Hearts Ministries! Please read... After three and a half years of building a highly relational faith-based addictions ministry, Converting Hearts CEO, Shawn Saunders, along with CHMs board of directors, have decided that Shawn will no longer continue as CEO or serve as a board member of the organization. Upon taking inventory of CHMs working capital, and current make-up of both the board and staff, both parties confer that this is a good season to dissolve the informal partnership forged by the Shawn Saunders and co-founders, Carlton & Wayne Edwards in 2010, and focus on offering help to so many hurting people for a hopeful future. This strategic decision permits Shawns partners, Wayne and Carlton Edwards, who founded Converting Hearts Ministry for Addicted Men, Inc. in 2007, to resume management of the existing constituency, resources and personnel. Although this will narrow the scope of services provided by Converting Hearts Ministries, it will lower the cost of care for the addicted men looking for help. The organization has agreed to handoff to Shawn the educational, outpatient, and community participation services as he branches off into a separate organization. The decision, while painstaking, affords Shawn the opportunity to passionately pursue a ministry to addicts, their families and their faith communities in a more streamlined fashion. The current leadership is focused on sustaining the organization both for its farm and thrift store through implementing a more targeted and regimented work program. The ministry will utilize the live-in residents as the work force; this stronger shift towards production oversight should simplify the management of daily operations. The programs foundational elements of grace-based counseling and redemptive community will remain intact. Shawn states Im humbled to have had this amazing opportunity to promote the ideal that those who struggle with chemical substance abuse and other addictions can live an exceptional life and that no person, however bad, is outside the reach of Gods love. I will greatly miss working with my former and current team, and teaching and counseling the men and their families at CHM.
