Translate their Constitution in their own dialects. Bernard Gbayee Goah President, Operation We Care for Liberia It is the obligation of the Liberian government to translate the constitution of Liberia from English to the countrys local vernaculars. This will enable the people to fully comprehend the laws of their country. Government cannot continue to keep the people of Liberia in the dark. Translating the Constitution in dialects native to the Liberian people will help to restore law and order across the country. This will also help to remove language barriers, and minimize ambiguous interpretations of the law. Government should translate the Constitution of Liberia on audio and videocassettes, CDs, DVDs and in print where necessary in every dialect across Liberia. Copies of these translations should be available to every household in the country. That way, the people would fully understand their rights as well as the limitations of their rights under the law. Government cannot continue to hold citizens responsible for breaking laws they have no clue about. How do you persecute a man for breaking the laws of his own country when said laws are written in a foreign language he does not fully understand? To have a constitution ninety percent of the population cannot understand is a calculated evil. This is called suppressing the people, and it has to stop.
